The Little Things

Sometimes the little things really really do matter.
When you are dieting and it starts really well one of the first bad habits that tends to creep in is complacency. By that I mean you stop weighing everything, you guess some food weights, “That looks about right”, that sort of thing.
Now for a number of foods that’s not the end of the world, we know what a sausage looks like, or an egg etc but other foods really do matter.
When you consider that 1g of fat is 9 calories, and a dessertspoon of oil (which we use a lot in TSP RECIPES and is NOT a lot) comes in at just over 80 calories, it is important to get it right.
I guarantee that if you just drizzle some oil in your pan thinking “that looks about right” you will put at least double the amount in, I guarantee it, and if you do that each day for a week thats nearly 600 calories EXTRA you are consuming.
And that is just one example, the same goes for any food high in fat (cheese, dressings, sauces, butters, oil etc)
So, couple of things:
- If you are struggling with your progress go back to basics, do as you did when you very first started, weigh everything and don’t take anything for granted!
- Remember that ALL FOOD COUNTS, it all has calories and it all goes towards your total weekly food intake. And if you want to lose weight you have to be getting the right amount of calories in. Yes I deal with this in the background but your plan gives you the right calories, so stick to it!
Ultimately, you are your own person, and you are responsible for the results you get. Admittedly the body plays a large part in that and the scales will not always reflect your efforts each week, but you HAVE to continue doing your part or the scales will definately not go in your favour.
So remember, the little things count, and it starts with weighing your food and taking it seriously.
