It’s not WHAT you eat

by | May 28, 2018

I know I have said this loads in the past but you have to decide on your priorities. What is most important to you RIGHT NOW?

If it is health and wellbeing, with a strong focus on the quality of the food you eat then read no further, this post isn’t for you

BUT

If your goal is fat loss then listen carefully. You need to understand something REALLY important. It doesn’t matter WHAT you eat, simply HOW MUCH.

AGAIN: It does NOT matter WHAT you eat, only HOW MUCH

As far as the body is concerned, 99% of calories are simply calories. Whether those calories come from a Big Mac or a Chicken Breast. I know that I have spoken at length about food quality, and yes it’s vitally important, but from a fat loss point of view the difference to your results is negligible.

So if you have to enjoy chocolate, or a snack bar, or simply some junk food but it keeps you going through the day and overall sticking to your diet then EAT IT. As long as it’s on your plan and allowed for you will be fine and weight loss will happen.

Don’t be thinking that you are being naughty, or you have blown the diet because you had some thing that typically we consider as bad, because that’s ridiculous and rubbish.

If you consume fewer calories than your body needs, regardless of where those calories have come from, you WILL LOSE WEIGHT.

I REPEAT: EATING ‘rubbish’ food will NOT stop you losing weight

So stop looking at food as good or bad, right or wrong, clean or unclean etc. Food is food as far as YOU are concerned if your goal is weight loss. You can worry about the quality of it when you have lost your weight but as I have always said, and will continue to say..

The health benefits of losing weight FAR outweigh the non-health benefits of eating junk food.

Being overweight is the single biggest risk to your health and lifespan. Do you think that avoiding a Twix Bar once a week is going to do you more good than losing 2 stone? No of course it isn’t.

So do what you have to do, eat what you have to eat (on plan of course) to get the weight shifted. THAT is your priority, NOTHING ELSE!
