It’s Weekly Dude

How many times have you had something ‘off plan’ and then decided the whole day is blown so you’ll try again tomorrow?
How many times, once you have decided the day is blown, do you then stuff yourself with foods that you would not normally eat on that particular day but you want to get it all in and ‘out of your system’ before the fresh start tomorrow?
Well doing this simply makes you normal, actually NOT normal, it makes you bleeding weird, the logic of what you are doing is all wrong, but what it does make you, is like 95% of all other dieters (but that doesn’t make it right)
Let’s think about this for a minute. You want to lose weight. You’re sick of how you look and feel, ashamed to show too much flesh, scared of being invited to social events in the sunshine, and dread having to get swimwear on. You feel uncomfortable and self conscious in the summer and you’re sick of your fitness holding you back and enjoying stuff, especially with the kids.
You also know that eating too much food (not the WRONG food, TOO MUCH FOOD) has got you in this mess. You know that your excessive food and drink intake has made you like this and you also know that eating and drinking less will fix it. You know this, it’s common knowledge and is not rocket science.
So WHY, when you eat one thingĀ that isn’t on your diet do you then think sod it and eat everything in site, taking you in completely the wrong direction of your goals and actually making the situation worse.
It’s like a switch. You woke up, turned the switch ON and were planning to diet, then one thing goes past your lips that you think should not have and bang, switch goes OFF and for the rest of the day diets don’t exist and all of a sudden you are delighted with how you look, and don’t care about your body weight, and in fact life is awesome and great and damn I look fine and I no longer care about losing weight cos I am HOT.
Oh but hang on, that’s ridiculous, you don’t feel that way at all, you actually feel worse now, crying into the whole tube of Jaffas while scouring the cupboards to see what else there is you can scoff down. Literally overloading on calories to such an excessive amount that it’s going to take the whole first week of proper dieting just to undo this one day.
It’s crazy, its ridiculous, it makes no sense and is backward. One thing suddenly turns you into this ravenous, couldn’t care less, waste disposal unit.
When it didn’t have to.
See, the body doesn’t lose weight daily, it loses it weekly. One thing off plan today does NOT blow the whole day OR the whole week. That is why I don’t give members daily food allowances, they are WEEKLY, for this very situation.
If you have eaten something ‘off plan’ chill out, you’re human, these things happen and you would be weird if you didn’t occasionally do it BUT what then separates the successful dieters from the perpetual, ‘dieting all their lives’ people is what you do next.
A. Blow it, stuff your face, switch OFF and go on a feeding frenzy, putting fat ON and making yourself MORE miserable and evenĀ further away from your goals
or
B. Accept it for what it was, allow for it with your food allowances or calories, make it up before your dieting week is over and ALL is good and weight is lost.
In fact which sounds the most adult, sensible, grown up and logical thing to do. Which would you happily tell someone you had done without sounding stupid?
Exactly. So next time something goes past your lips ‘off plan’ but you DO actually still want to achieve your goals and lose weight then make the right choice and carry on.
If you don’t, people do NOT look at you and think “Oh I understand Doris it’s so hard, I would have done the same“, what they are actually thinking, but don’t say is “Yes Doris, that’s what I would expect from you, you have no willpower, no real determination to achieve this and the first excuse to justify coming off your diet, you take it, like you have done for years and years. You are never going to lose your weight love, it’s a joke“
So make the right decision next time, and there will be a next time, for all of us.
You do realise that when I eventually get a member called Doris I am screwed right ha ha
