The Easy Way

This one is short, sweet and to the point:
All these years you have failed to lose your weight for only one reason. Not medication, or hormones, or circumstances, or injury, or kids, or emotional stress or anything else that lifestyle gurus may tell you or that you tell yourself.
You have failed to lose your weight because 9 times out of 10, when faced with a challenge, you took THE EASY WAY. We all have. Me included.
When faced with a situation, be it a party, night out with friends, family event, BBQ, day out with no healthy food options, holiday, whatever. Instead of planning food, taking food, researching ahead or hell simply FASTING, you decided in your head that you “couldn’t possibly diet then” so you didn’t.
Or the sun is out, you’re sat in the garden, and normally you would be enjoying a Prosecco, but NOT having a Prosecco would seem wrong, would be weird, so instead of BEING weird, you have one. Cos it’s the easy thing to do.
These periods of
- One day won’t kill me
- One drink won’t hurt
- Life is too short
- I’ve been good all week
- My friends won’t like me if I don’t
- My family will give me grief if I don’t
- Yes but the sun is shining
- Well we don’t get a day off all together very often
- There has to be some fun
etc etc etc
all these lead to the easy option, you simply eat or drink, throw the diet to the wind and think F**K it. Yeah that’s great, enjoy and have fun, but then in a couple of days time when you are moaning about your weight STOP, cos you have NO RIGHT TO MOAN.
You’re not prepared to do what’s necessary, so you can’t complain about the results you don’t get, for the work you didn’t do.
STOP taking the easy way. Stop automatically assuming that a certain situation means you can’t diet.
If you were told, seriously, that eating just ONE MORE MEAL that YOU had not made and cooked yourself would give you an instant Coronary Attack and it would ALL be over, YOU WOULD FIND A WAY.
You would make ALL your own food, you would say no to meals out, you would not buy the fish and chips from the beach, or the burger from the festival, you would be there with your little rucksack and your home prepared food surrounded by freezer blocks. You would take those 5 extra minutes before going to bed to prep for the next day, despite completing a 14 hour work day, you’d get up 10 minutes earlier in the morning for breakfast so you didn’t grab something from Costa drive thru.
You WOULD, because it can be done. But you don’t, because it’s not the EASY WAY.
Well choose what you want. The EASY WAY, leading to literally, no word of a lie, THE REST OF YOUR LIFE DIETING (and all the S**T that brings with it) or the NOT SO EASY WAY, the one that requires just a LITTLE willpower, a little planning and a few small changes in your habits.
It’s not impossible, it’s not life ending and if you are thinking “Yes but I want a life James” then fine, but think how EPIC your life would actually and REALLY be if you COULD take the easy route, but were doing so without a belly and wearing ANY clothes you wanted to.
THAT would be having a life, not what you have now. Sorry.
